Vifon Kurczak Lagodny (Mild Chicken Flavour)

This is a filthy pig - so dirty it hasn't even wiped its trotters. Imagine all the grease at the bottom of the fryer in a deep fried chicken house. Turn that grease into powder and put it into a Vifon chicken flavoured nood. Man, that's what you've got here. And the Poles must love it, as this is sold big time in Poland.

Random Polish noodfan making and enjoying his Vifon KurZak Lagodny. YouTube. Poor things, they don't have electric kettles in Poland, and theyu are still wearing chunky plastic digital watches. Worse still, they haven't yet invented forks, so they have to break up the dried noodles by hand before cooking so they can eat it all with a spoon.

The noodles are thin like vermicelli. And the sauce is also thin, but fair do, they do say "noodle soup".

The Nation's 'Normous Noodle / Golden Wonder Noodle Pot Chip Shop Curry Flavour

The Nation's 'Normous Noodle are a Symington's nood. Symington's own the Golden Wonder brand, and they originally used that brand name for these noods - but since changing from having the noods made in China, to being made in Leeds,  they appear to have dropped the Golden Wonder name - or perhaps it was a printing error?

Anyway, this is a typical British product. Soft bland British type noodles, in bland curry sauce. It works OK if you don't really want a bad boy or a dirty pig, and are looking for something loving and kind. I suppose it's like asking for a hand shake rather than the full monty. Suits some.

Golden Wonder Noodle Pot

UK made. Veggie. Around 50p a pot. The noodles are air-dried, so characterless, and take over five minutes to soften. The sauce is floury and bland. It's edible, but not really enjoyable. This is crap.

 Golden Wonder Noodle Pot
The Golden Wonder brand name is now owned by CTO Holdings, so Symingtons have to pay to use it. This is a standard pot noodle with a typical floury British sauce, flavoured with chip shop curry - a mild and surprisingly appealing curry sauce. Well, it's appealing to me, but maybe that's because I'm British. There is no quality about this product, it tastes like what it is, a cheap and unexciting pot noodle, but it also tastes comforting and quite moreish. I like this. I like the sweetness combined with the mild curry spice.
Sometimes this is exactly the sort of nood you want. And today it was.

Naked Noodle Ramen Noodles in Sauce Sweet & Sour Flavour

These noods are eatable, but seriously too bland to be of any genuine interest. A little bit of salt helps bring the flavour out, but it's essentially pasta in a little bit of  tomato sauce. A tin of Spaghetti Hoops would be a better bet.

Pricy nonsense. Symington's are trying too hard here. Just keep it simple lads! And "Sweet & Sour" is rarely a good bet for a pot nood.

Morrisons M Savers Chicken Flavour Noodles

These are the Noods that Queen Noodfan Georgi Readman eats.  20p from Morrisons. Deep fried in China, and with real dead chicken parts in the powder (why don't they say so more clearly on the packet?). These noods need some salt to bring out the flavour. And when you do you'll notice that it's not very nice.

An experience best not repeated.

You think.

And then when you're finished that flavour lingers around the mouth and you start to want another one.

Oooh - the temptation of these dirty little snacks.....

Mug Shot Peri-Peri flavour

A little bit spicy.....

Yawn. These Mug Shots are clean and tasty. But noods need to be a little bit dirty, a little bit offensive, a little bit naughty, a little bit something other than what a virgin vicar would eat on Sunday while watching Songs of Praise on BBC......

Pot Noodle Chilli Beef

IT'S HOT!

Your mouth and arse will hate you for this.

Warning - if you put in all of the chilli from the little sachet you will die.

The above ad  (as usual for Pot Noodle ads) generated complaints for the phrase: "“peel the top off a hottie”. If a Pot Noodle ad doesn't cause offence, then it isn't doing it's job properly!

Mug Shot Creamy Cheese Pasta

It's pasta rather than noodles, but that's OK. Good thick cheesy sauce. Nice chewy pasta. I'd have no objection to eating this again. It's plain and dull and safe as a nun in her nightie - but sometimes that's no bad thing.

I'm getting the hang of instant noods (or pasta) in a cup or bowl. Pour on the water, then put in the microwave for a minute or two. Yep, it's almost like cooking, but it does mean the noods aren't cold when you eat 'em.

Mug Shot Spicy Sweet & Sour

Soft and chewy noodles. These are clean UK standard noodles - air dried rather than deep fried. I used a mug, poured on boiling water and left in a microwave for two minutes. The result was surprisingly like Pot Noodles. Damp but firm juice. Mildly sharp notes for the "sour", and sweet tomato flavour for the "sweet". A reasonably attractive and acceptable snack. Nothing dramatic, nothing dirty, nothing special. There you go....

Vifon Kurczak (Chicken) Curry / Curry Ostra

This  is still the Vifon chicken curry, but the chicken name (Kurczak) is no longer prominent, and monosodium glutamate is used in place of dead bits of chicken. Also, the word Ostra (sharp) has been added.

Decent noods with an acceptable savoury flavour (though not really very curry like or chicken like, just sort of savoury). It wasn't the favourite in our house, but it was generally liked, even though one of us placed it last.

A regular dirty cow this one. Good greasy noodles with a hot and greasy chicken flavoured curry. Good burn in the mouth. Solid all round. Three little flavour packets - I put them all in before pouring on the water. Seemed to work OK.

Yep. Go for it!

There's bits of real dead chicken feet, bum and brains in this one, so score is reduced.

ASDA Smart Price Chicken Flavour Noodles

This is about as cheap and nasty as it gets. About 20p a packer, which has to be cooked rather than simply having boiling water poured over them. I did try the boiling water soak and slurp method, but it resulted in hard noodles in a cold liquid. I had to warm up in the microwave. Too much effort man! And not enough flavour!

There's no chicken, but it does - bless it's little nood socks - leave a greasy boiled chicken flavour in the mouth. Basic stuff, but you can eat this people! Yes, you can!

Date: Nov 2013   Score: 3

The name has changed - they've dropped the "Instant" part - after all, if you have to cook it, I suppose it's no longer instant. Noodles are very basic. No flavour or character to them. The sauce has a pleasant onion and parsley flavour, but it's in need of seasoning. Yes folks, you can eat this, but I don't know why you would want to. There are plenty of cheap instant noodles that taste better for around the same price.
