Nissin Demae Ramen Chicken Flavour

These are huge noods - 100g for 40p. I bought mine from Tradewindsorientalshop.co.uk, but they are available from Tesco and other places for the same price - though  Nissinnoodles.co.uk  charge 45p . Because they are so big and because Nissin are the inventor of both packet noods and pot noods, just for a change, I followed the instructions and made them in a saucepan on the cooker. The noodles ended up softer than I like, and there was way too much water. The result was a fairly watery and stodgy vermicelli soup. The packet has a lot of salt, so that was OK for me - but the flavour was more salt than anything else. There was oil to add, which had some smoke flavour that gave the noods a greasy artificial roast chicken flavour, but it was more chemical than real. That's fine - the nature of a dirty nood is that it tastes artificial and nothing like what it says it should, but these noods are just not flavoured enough. Try using half the amount of water they suggest, and once the noods are in the boiling water, stop boiling.

Demae Ramen were introduced by Nissin in 1968, and have proved to be very popular, especially in Hong Kong. Demae means "delivery", and in Japanese it's 出前一丁 (Demae Itcho) which means "delivery one order". The image of the delivery boy on the packet is very popular in Asia.

These are made in Hungary. No chicken or other meat used. This is a tasty, but not overwhelming  nood. It does the job. I like the lime flavours - that adds interest, and marks this as something a little more more special than yer average nood.
